Flores: Komodo Dragon!

We woke up early in the morning to climb atop the hill on Gili Lawa to see the sunrise, it was quite a struggle when we made the climb as it was pitch dark that time; favorable condition when you want to shoot milky ways although not so good condition for trekking, but the climb was worth the effort.

The sunrise was indeed, glorious.

Then we leave Gili Lawa, with our captain on the helm, the next destination is: Komodo Island.

One of the highlights of our trip was to see the Komodo Dragons up close, the largest living species of lizard. Komodos can grew up to a maximum length of three metres and weighing approximately 70 Kilograms. They can get really aggressive on the smell of blood, ladies should be aware when travelling to Komodo National Park during certain days of the month. Our guide told us Komodos can smell blood from several kilometres away, and there was a female tourist that was chased by a pack of komodos to the pier, she hadn't even touched her feet to the ground and yet the komodos were chasing after her. That being said, fortunately there are no komodos chasing anyone from our group, and we are also fortunate to meet several komodos during our visit.
